Oil and Vinegar Low Carb Recipes

One of the most common vinegars used to make oil and vinegar low carb recipes for dressings with olive oil as a base is balsamic vinegar. Balsamic vinegar is hardly common, however. A pleasant by-product of the current trend towards low carb foods to improve heart health has been the weight reduction so sought after by many people.

Whether you are planning a simple salad for yourself or a dinner party for a dozen guests, it is important in the world of gourmet cooking that you have all the tools at hand to provide easy choices and prepare a guilt-free meal.

Balsamic vinaigrette dressing is best served drizzled over sliced tomatoes and cucumbers or tossed with fresh lettuce leaves just before serving. Leafy vegetables can be rendered droopy and unappetizing if tossed with dressing and left to stand for too long before serving.

Oil and Vinegar – Shaken

Olive oil can, in fact, be used as a dressing on its own. Most of the time, however, an acid such as balsamic vinegar is required to balance the taste of the oil and make the resulting dressing more suitable for the typical palate. A dressing made of a mixture of olive oil and balsamic vinegar is particularly satisfying when served at mealtimes.

Tasty Home-Grown Experiments

You can easily create unique flavored oil recipes that are entirely your own at home. A simple herb oil can be easily made by heating olive oil with chopped basil or chives. After heating, you should cover the pan until the mixture is cool, then place the dressing in a blender to properly mix it. When you have obtained a smooth mixture, you should then strain it through a sieve before storing it. Flavored oils should be blended up to four days before you plan to serve them, as this allows the flavors within the oil to mix properly.

You can also make spicy chilli oil by heating olive oil, several finely chopped chillis, a bay leaf, and an unpeeled clove of garlic in a pan. After the mixture has cooled, strain it through a sieve then store in a sealed bottle.

While not everyone may be able to abide by a low carb diet, it is hard to argue against a reduction in carbohydrates in your diet. A natural combination of balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil is so tasty that it is something worth sharing with your family and friends – both through word of mouth and in the taste of the dishes you serve for them. Whether you prefer a balsamic vinaigrette salad dressing over a spinach salad or Easy Italian dressing using olive oil as a base, recent scientific research is revealing that these foods have many potential health benefits.
