Oil and Vinegar Low Carb Dressings

Low Carb Dressing

Mixtures of balsamic vinegar and olive oil have many health benefits, not the least of which if its low carb content. By varying the proportions and ingredients of these mixtures, you will be able to create a unique flavor that everyone in your family will appreciate. The following recipes can be used to make guilt-free snacks and meals.

Easy Italian

Ingredients:¼ to ½ Cup of Olive Oil
2 Tablespoons of Vinegar (Balsamic)
2 Tablespoons of Sugar, granular
Italian seasoning

Preparation:

Place all of the ingredients in a bowl and stir vigorously to mix them together. Taste it continuously until you arrive at the right proportion of oil to vinegar. If you prefer a mixture that is less sweet, then you should use a smaller amount of sugar.

Garlic Vinaigrette

Ingredients:

1 ½ Cups of Olive Oil
¼ Cup of Vinegar, any type
3 Cloves of Garlic, crushed
2 Tablespoons of Sugar, granular
½ Teaspoon of Italian herbs, mixed
A pinch of Salt
A pinch of Pepper

Preparation:

Place all of the ingredients in a jar with a secure lid. Shake well so that the mixture is thoroughly mixed then leave it to settle in a refrigerator for approximately an hour before serving.

Dressing Oriental

Ingredients:

½ Cup of Oil
3 to 4 Tablespoons of White Vinegar (eg. Rice Vinegar)
½ Tablespoon of Ginger powder
½ Tablespoon of Garlic powder
½ Tablespoon of Onion powder
1 Tablespoon of Sesame Seeds
2 Tablespoons of Sugar, granular

Preparation:

Place all of the ingredients in a jar or bowl and shake or whisk them until they are well mixed. Serve the resulting dressing over salad.

A popular variation of the Asian dressing combines extra-light olive oil with a teaspoon of toasted sesame oil, half a teaspoon of sugar, a teaspoon of soy sauce, a dash of grated ginger, and any form of white vinegar
(such as rice vinegar), added to taste. The Oriental dressing made using this recipe is particularly tasty served over spinach salad.

Hot Bacon Salad Dressing

Ingredients:

3 Slices of Bacon
¼ Cup of Onion, sliced
1/8 Cup of Vinegar, white wine
1/8 Cup of Water
1 Tablespoon of Sugar, granular
¼ Teaspoon of Salt

Preparation:

In a large, deep skillet, heat the bacon over a medium high flame until is has browned evenly. Drain away the oil and set the bacon aside for the moment. Now place the onions in the skillet and sauté with light olive oil. Cook the onions until they appear tender. Add the vinegar, water, sugar, and salt to the skillet then crumble the bacon in as well. Apply high heat, stirring as you do so. Once cooked, simply pour the dressing over a salad of your choice and serve.
